Indien, oder wie es in der Touristik-Werbung heißt: „Incredible India“ – und dieses Mal stimmt die Werbung mit den Tatsachen überein!
Auf der China-Reise 2009, genauer gesagt als wir auf einem Schiff den Jangtsekiang Fluss in Richtung des Drei-Schluchten-Staudamms entlangschwammen, oder ganz genau während einer Fußreflexzonenmassage manifestierte sich die Idee, doch demnächst nach Indien zu fahren. ‚Demnächst‘ dauerte leider etwas länger, aber im Januar 2012 kam das perfekte Reiseangebot, genau dorthin wo wir uns es vorgestellt hatten – nach Rajasthan, in einem vernünftigen Preis/Leistungsverhältnis, mit ärztlicher Begleitung und Urlaub bekam ich auch. Gesagt – gebucht!
Rājasthān, राजस्थान, das „Land der Könige“, wurde 1947 aus vielen kleinen Fürstenstaaten gegründet, die bis zur Unabhängigkeit von der britischen Kolonialherrschaft eigenständige Königreiche waren – daher der Beiname – ist ein Wüstenstaat, liegt im Nordwesten von Indien mit Grenze zu Pakistan und ist der flächenmäßig größte indische Bundesstaat und etwa so groß wie Deutschland.

During the trip through China in 2009, while our Cruise Ship went on the Yangtzekiang River in the direction of the Three Gorges Dam, precisely during a foot reflexology the idea sprang up that the next vacation trip should go to India. ‚Next’ took longer than expected, but in January 2012 the perfect travel offer was found, exactly to where we wanted to go – to Rajasthan, with value matching the money, accompanied by a doctor and I got enough time off for the vacation. Said and booked!
Rājasthān, राजस्थान, the „Land of Kings“, was established in 1947, when due to the end of the British colonial rule many small kingdoms lost their independence – hence the nickname – is the largest state of the Republic of India by area, matching the size of Germany. It is located in the northwest of India, on the border to Pakistan and encompasses most of the area of the Thar Desert.

An einem kalten sonnigen Sonntagabend Anfang März war es so weit, der Flieger nach Delhi hob ab. In meiner Vorstellung sollte der Flug 14 Stunden dauern, wie erfreut war ich dann, als sich dieses als Fehlinformation herausstellte und wir nach knapp 7 Stunden bereits zur Landung ansetzten. Ein Vorgeschmack auf die zukünftigen Temperaturen, meine leichte Winterjacke wurde zu warm, aber ich hoffte auf die Gewöhnung ans Klima und meine eigene Betriebstemperatur. Ein kurzes englisches, aber doch schon indisch angehauchtes Frühstück, bei dem sich die Reisegruppe erstmals kennen lernen konnte, und wir uns auch die Gesichter von Reiseleiter, Busfahrer und seinem Helfer einprägen konnten, und dann ging es auch schon los mit der Rundreise. Es hatten sich so viele Teilnehmer angemeldet, dass zwei Gruppen gebildet werden mussten. Wir wurden zu ‚Bus 2‘ mit 22 Mitfahrern die aus ganz Deutschland kamen, aber nur wir beide aus München.

On a cold sunny Sunday evening in early March our plane to Delhi was finally on its way. I had the misconception that the flight would take 14 hours, but much to my pleasant surprise after about 7 hours landing was announced. A foretaste of the upcoming temperatures, my light winter jacket suddenly felt too warm, but I hoped for acclimatization. A short English but already Indian flavoured breakfast, where the travel group could mingle for the first time and could get adjusted with the faces of tour guide, bus driver and his helper, and then we were on our round trip. So many participants had booked this tour that we were divided into two groups. We became ‚Bus 2’ with 22 travellers from all over Germany, but only the two of us from Munich.

Wegen der grossen Menge Photos, die wir machten, ist das hier nur eine Auswahl, aber da es immer noch ziemlich viele sind, habe ich den Urlaubsbericht in mehrere Teile zerlegt. Ich hoffe, Euch macht das Anschauen der Bilder ebensoviel Spass wie ich hatte als ich dort war wo sie geschossen wurden! Und vielleicht ist der Begleittext auch nicht ganz uninteressant.

Due to the very large amount of photos we were able to take, I had to make a choice which to use, but they are still so many, so I divided the travel report into several parts. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I had fun when I was where they were taken! And perhaps you'll also find the accompanying words interesting.
